Recommended Study Guides

There are a few things you need to know as you’re preparing to choose material for your group.

  1. About once a year we will ask all of our groups to join in a church-wide study.  We will let you know well in advance when a new study is scheduled to allow you to plan ahead.  Do you absolutely, positively, have to participate?  Although there will always be exceptions, you will be strongly encouraged to join us (we will most likely have our next church-wide study in September or October of 2009).
  2. We will always have studies that are recommended as next steps.  Use the list as a resource.  Don’t feel like you have to choose from it.  If you’re interested in a study not on the list, just be sure and keep us informed about the material you are using.

Recommended Studies:

Growing to Be Like Christ is a 6 week DVD-driven study on the purpose of discipleship; equipping you for the basic habits of spiritual growth.  The DVD features John Ortberg, Doug Fields, Steve Arterburn, Anne Ortland, Todd Wendorff and Lance Witt.

Running the Race is a 6 week study Philippians (from Zondervan’s New Community Series). Do you need energy and refreshment for the race of life? In Philippians, you will find all you need to run with strength and confidence. If you desire joy beyond measure, perseverance, a servant’s heart, hope for the future, a peace beyond understanding, and lasting contentment, look no further than Philippians.

Live at Five: is a DVD-driven 5 week study of the book of James (from the same group that produced Mirror Image).

One Month to Live:  If your group didn’t join in the church-wide study of One Month to Live, copies are still available and it doesn’t have to be done in conjunction with weekend teaching.  The book, DVD and study guide provide everything your group will need.

The Truth Project:  The Truth Project is a challenging 13 week curriculum produced by Focus on the Family.  In order to use the material, training is required.  There are two ways you can access the material:  (1) You can attend the training offered by Focus on the Family, or (2) You can sit as a learner in a group that is using it and then use the material in your group later.  You can find out more right here.  Once you’ve met the training requirement, you can order materials right here or email us to find out about borrowing a set.  Questions?  Email Renee Flores for more information.
